Match RECAP:  Free Spirit
Field Conditions -- typical INJURY -- Coleen Wilson (#4 Free Spirit) came down from a header in traffic and twisted her ankle. No foul. Visibly swollen after the game. NOTE -- Roberto Cepeda (#11 Free Spirit) went down twice VERY easily, hardly any contact at all, but contact nonetheless. I called a foul on The Express players because they indeed make the contact. (No materially advantage resulted from the fouls.) I did speak with Roberto after the second time (~10 min mark in 1st half) and it did not happen again. CARDS In min #43 about mid field #11 (Scott Bazemore, The Express) swung his elbow at the chest/solar plexus of #52 (Robert Wilson, Free Spirit) in a very deliberate manner, not consistent with playing the ball, but more consistent with warding #52 off. There had been a minor contact in the Penalty Area, just previously. CAUTION to #11. In 33rd minute of 2nd half, as #42 and #12 were trying to get to the ball. #42 kicked #12, more than necessary in normal play (maybe a YELLOW). Apparently some words were spoken (I did not hear them). Letting the ball go, #42 stopped about a foot away from #12 and they glared at each other; more words spoken. (I saw #12 lips move; #42 had his back to me.) I blew the whistle. #12 swung at #42 and missed as #42 dodged the blow. I blew my whistle again and pushed #42 away and standing in front of #12 held my red card for about a minute or two until #12\'s teammates physically pulled him off the field. I then showed #42 the red card. It was the stop, the menacing confrontation, which drew the RED. AR Stephanie offered no additional info to what I saw, as if she did not see anything until after my first whistle. BTW -- After the game as we were walking off the pitch players from both teams thank me for a good job, apologized for their teammate\'s actions and complemented me on my EJECTIONS, saying both were warranted. They regretted the lack of friendliness in the spirit of some of the players . One Free Spirit said, \"This is a recreational league; too bad some players can\'t leave their college days behind them\". After the game as I went to pick up my bag which was under the same tree where #12 was standing (away from the rest of his team who were in the sun), he had some very choice foul language directed at me -- no one else was around and he was looking directly at me -- complaining about my prejudice. I said nothing, picked up my bag and walked away. He was still very clearly very agitated; though I did not feel threatened in any way. He made no menacing gestures or comments, and continued to remove his clothing, as he had been, when I approached. After completing my debrief with the AR\'s, the captain of the 3:00 game Rebels (Banquero) came up to me and suggested that I not go to the parking lot immediately. One of his players (his keeper) who apparently had been threatened by #12 in the past with a parking lot gun confrontation, saw #12 return from his car after being ejected with a bag that he (#12) carried behind him and then placed under his soccer bag. Someone from the Rebels called the Constables. Just after that we heard sirens. Within 15 minutes after the game 5 deputy crusiers were in the parking lot. They found #12 in his car. According to the officers #12 did not have a gun in his possesion.
